Ever considered a career as an Electrical Installation Testing Engineer?

12 June 2018

As part of Training in Electricals’ commitment to the Year of Engineering, we have identified an upsurge in the demand for Electrical Installation Testing Engineers. With the recent increase in building developments and renovations of domestic and commercial properties, there is a shortfall of qualified Inspection and Testing Engineers.

Did you know that every electrical addition to existing circuits and new electrical installations, such as wiring of new builds or re-wires requires Electrical Installation Certificates to be produced prior to the installation being energised to comply with BS7671?

It is a legal requirement that electrically skilled testing engineers possess adequate education and experience to perform this vital role. With the new 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) fast approaching and the need for all electrical operatives to now complete the latest version before being allowed to work in the Electrotechnical Industry, it is an ideal time to consider the position of testing engineer and stay ‘one step ahead’.

From the 2nd July 2018 Training in Electrical will be offering the 18th Edition course over either 1 or 2-day period including weekend course too. For the first time, the 18th Edition qualification will be a legal requirement that all operatives hold this award by the 1st January 2019 and any other previous versions will become obsolete and not recognise by the Electrical Industry.

With the significant changes to the delivery and assessment of the Inspection and Testing qualification over the last 18 months, now is the  time to consider moving your career up a level. The introduction of a practical assessment and an ‘open book’ on-line multiple-choice examination makes the City & Guilds (2391) Inspection & Testing Award extremely achievable.

With our newly refurbished testing assessment centre at our Nottingham based College is ideal for candidates wishing to learn and train with us. This 5-day course is delivered with your success in mind and will take you step by step through the process of Inspection and testing. Our success rate is fantastic with a pass rate of over 90% achieving this qualification.

There has never been a better time to consider this important and lucrative role with over 200+ positions required immediately in the Midlands Area alone. The rate of pay for this type of role is on average between £35k to £45k with benefits such as company vehicle, fuel card and overtime.
